Summary:
Westward Bound is a 1930 American pre-Code Western about Bob Lansing, the wayward son of a New York senator who, after a nightclub fight protecting Marge Holt, is sent to Montana with his chauffeur Ben to reform. In the frontier, they are robbed of their belongings and wrongly suspected of being rustlers, creating conflict and misunderstandings among ranch hands and locals. As Bob adapts to ranch life and uncovers evidence of an outlaw gang’s activities, he works to clear his name, confront danger, and prove his courage, ultimately winning respect and affection in the rugged Western setting.

Background:
Directed and produced by Harry S. Webb for Metropolitan Pictures and distributed by Syndicate Film Exchange, Westward Bound exemplifies the low-budget sound Westerns of the early 1930s. Featuring seasoned “B-Western” actors, stunt performers, and quick pacing, the film reflects genre conventions of frontier justice, mistaken identity, and personal redemption common in early talkie Western adventures.
---
Trivia:
Jay Wilsey was billed as Buffalo Bill Jr. in the lead role.
Yakima Canutt, a renowned stuntman, appears as the rustler leader, contributing action sequences typical of the genre.
The film represents an early sound era effort by Poverty Row-style producers to blend dialogue with traditional Western action.
The movie was broadcast on early television in the late 1940s and 1950s, reflecting its presence in regional programming.
