Summary:
The Runaway Bride is a 1930 American pre-Code crime drama about Mary Gray, a socialite who elopes with her fiancé, Dick Mercer, only to realize their differences threaten the marriage. After a quarrel leaves her separated from Dick, a gang member fleeing from law enforcement plants stolen jewels in her purse, drawing her into a web of danger. To evade both the criminals and the police, Mary adopts a disguise and seeks refuge with a kindly bachelor, George Blaine, leading to suspenseful encounters, romantic complications, and a dramatic rescue from the criminals’ clutches.

Background:

Prints of the film are preserved in the Library of Congress collection.
