Summary:
A business partnership and a marriage collide when Mrs. Colby files for divorce, naming her husband’s associate Jean Prentiss as co-respondent. When the wife’s attorney, Robert Marshall, is found murdered, suspicion falls on Colman Colby and a sensational trial follows.
As testimony and new evidence emerge, Jean undertakes her own inquiry, tracing a clue to an underworld witness whose account upends the case. The investigation exposes jealousy and motive behind the killing, leading to a reversal of the verdict and a resolution for Jean and Colby.

Background:
Produced by B.P. Schulberg Productions, The Other Woman’s Story was released on November 15, 1925 and credited to director B.F. Stanley, a name some trade sources later suggested might be a pseudonym. Cinematographers Gilbert Warrenton and Allen G. Siegler photographed the six-reel feature. Surviving 35mm elements at the Library of Congress and UCLA enabled a modern restoration completed in May 2018 by the Library of Congress and the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, with color tinting guided by an incomplete nitrate print and a Dutch export print.
---
Trivia:
Some 1925 trade items initially associated the project with director Louis Gasnier; the final screen credit reads B.F. Stanley, a credit with no other known features.
American distribution was handled by Preferred Pictures; in Britain the release followed Warner Bros.’ acquisition of Vitagraph, which altered the originally planned UK distributor.
The restoration premiered at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival on June 1, 2018, using archival elements conserved at the Library of Congress.
Stephen Horne composed a new score for the 2018 restoration.
Principal cast includes Alice Calhoun, Robert Frazer, Helen Lee Worthing, and Mahlon Hamilton as Robert Marshall, the murder victim central to the plot.
