Summary:
Peggy Mason, a coffee shop co-owner, falls in love with the affluent Douglas Wyman. During a motoring trip they stop at a mountain lodge, where Peggy learns Douglas is trapped in an unhappy marriage. She leaves in distress, is caught in a storm, and is rescued by an old suitor.
When Douglas’s wife is found murdered, he refuses to provide an alibi that would compromise Peggy, and he is arrested and tried. A last-minute confession clears him, forcing Peggy to weigh loyalty, reputation, and desire as she chooses her future.
