The clash forces the men to flee, and Deucalion turns renegade, raising native fighters and allying with a local sheik as loyalties fracture and past treacheries resurface. As the renegades besiege a desert fort, Deucalion’s thirst for revenge collides with a residual sense of honor, drawing him and Eleanore toward a fatal reckoning amid shifting allegiances and hard-won redemption. --- Background: Directed for Fox Film by Victor Fleming and adapted by Jules Furthman from André Armandy’s novel Le Renégat, the film was produced in the pre-Code era and shot partly in harsh desert conditions reported as the Mojave Desert. It has been noted as the last film produced entirely by William Fox before he lost control of Fox Film. --- Trivia: Victor Jory made his film debut in an uncredited role as a Legion officer. Bela Lugosi appears as the Marabout, a Rif sheik who becomes pivotal to the power struggle. The film includes the song “I Got What I Wanted,” by Cliff Friend and Jimmy Monaco. Costumes were designed by Sophie Wachner. Cinematography was by L. William O’Connell. --- Public Domain / Rights: Original Release: October 26, 1930 Original Studio / Distributor: Fox Film Corporation Copyright Status: Public Domain Renewal: Unknown --- Hashtags: Renegades 1930sCinema VictorFleming MyrnaLoy WarnerBaxter PreCode FoxFilm FrenchForeignLegion ClassicFilm PublicDomain Source page: https: //commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Renegades_(1930).webm Direct media URL: https: //upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cd/Renegades_%281930%29.webm
