Summary:
A popular nightclub singer, Terry Arden, elopes with Jeff Wadsworth, heir to a manufacturing family. Their newlywed bliss falters when Terry’s inexperience in the kitchen collides with Jeff’s long hours and his family’s disapproval.
Seeking to repair the marriage, Terry enrolls in a cooking school and embraces modern electric appliances. Her transformation culminates in a carefully planned dinner that reconciles the couple and wins over Jeff’s family, presenting a domestic ideal shaped by contemporary technology.

Background:
Commissioned by the Edison General Electric Appliance Company to promote its Hotpoint line, the film was produced by Wilding Picture Productions, a leading maker of industrial and sponsored films. Wallace Fox directed, with music by Marvin Hatley; the musical sequences were directed by Reginald LeBorg. The picture was exhibited in coordinated dealer campaigns and non-theatrical showings, and it survives today in a preservation transfer from a Library of Congress print.
---
Trivia:
The musical sequences were directed by Reginald LeBorg, later known for studio features in the 1940s.
Composer Marvin Hatley, longtime Hal Roach collaborator, provided the score.
Alan Ladd appears in an early uncredited role.
The film’s narrative incorporates a television program segment that showcases an electric range—an early screen depiction of TV in a consumer-sales context.
It was created as part of a nationwide Hotpoint dealer promotion that paired theatrical screenings with local advertising and in-store tie-ins.
The National Film Preservation Foundation has made the preserved version available from a Library of Congress 16mm print.
