Summary:
In World War I London, a housemaid nicknamed “Cinderella” cleans an artist’s studio by day and quietly cares for a group of war orphans in her off hours. A conscientious policeman initially suspects her of mischief after a blackout incident, but his investigations reveal her generosity and resilience.
Exhausted and half-frozen, Cinderella slips into a reverie where pumpkin coaches, a fairy godmother, and a grand ball fulfill her longed-for fairy tale. The dream gives way to reality as she recovers, and the policeman’s compassion turns to love, offering her a future grounded less in fantasy than in kindness and security.
